Frequently Asked Questions

What does hypnosis feel like?

During hypnosis, you’re mind is just very focused and alert. You can expect to hear everything that is said to you. You will remember everything that occurred during the session.

While in hypnosis, you mind and body will release stress and achieve a deep state of rest. Afterward, you can expect to feel refreshed, energized and alert. You will remain in control of yourself at all times during the session. You will not do anything under hypnosis that you would not do in your awake state. At any time during the session, you can return to your normal state on your own. Everyone has experienced hypnosis without realizing it. You’ve done it yourself when you were daydreaming and missed a turn when driving (self-hypnotism), when you’ve been engrossed in a television show (hypnotized by someone else) and when you choose a brand because you’ve seen it repeatedly on television (hypnotic compounding of suggestion).

Why does hypnosis work?

The hypnotic state is an optimum state for making changes in your life because you can set aside limiting beliefs that have been preventing you from moving toward a more healthy and happy you. Many human problems, habits, stresses, anxieties, attitudes or apparent deficiencies can be traces to interpretations by the subconscious mind. When these interpretations are understood by the conscious mind, they can be reduced or resolved.

How often do I have to be hypnotized?

The number of sessions you will need to attend to achieve your personal goals depends on you. Hypnosis is known for helping people to achieve change quickly. During your initial consultation, we’ll talk about the goals for our work together and we will map out a path that will help you achieve the changes you want. What is hypnosis?

Hypnotism is the independent use of the hypnotic arts and sciences to help clients cultivate positive thinking and the capacity for self-hypnosis. Hypnosis is a trance-like state of mind achieved with the help of a hypnotist. It is different from your everyday awareness. When you experience hypnosis you are:

  • more open to suggestions
  • less critical
  • less disbelieving
  • deeply relaxed
  • are calm
  • attention is focused

When you are hypnotized, you can concentrate intensively on a specific thought, memory, feeling or sensation while blocking out other distractions. Because you are more open to suggestions, you are better able to change behaviors, improve your health and experience enhanced well-being.

Hypnosis is taught at such prestigious colleges and universities as Yale, Stanford and Harvard Medical School. Hypnosis is also used by the military, law enforcement and mayor corporations.

Due to its effectiveness in reliving symptoms of a wide variety of diseases and conditions, hypnosis is one of several relaxation methods approved by The National Institute of Health for treating chronic pain.
